Job Traces Tool

This month’s release introduces a new Job Traces tool that can be found under Jobs in the left menu. Job Traces provides detailed job visualization making it easier to troubleshoot, perform root cause analysis and conduct performance analysis on data pipelines quickly and efficiently.

Job Traces Menu

This tool allows users with Jobs permission to see a hierarchy and timeline status of all related jobs starting with the root (job that is not a child job to any other job) with the parent and child jobs nested under in convenient expandable and collapsible rows. The Job Trace section displays a hierarchical list of jobs with appropriate status badges to the right.

The Timeline tab provides a more detailed view of the job runs. Across the top are time increments and down the left side are the jobs. Green, blue or red bars display indicating the status and duration of the job run. Hovering over a bar provides additional detail about the job including the root job name, job name, start time of the specific job and status.

Job Traces Timeline

Both the Job Trace and Timeline view update job progress and status as the jobs run for real-time processing status.

To learn more about the various tabs and functionality of this tool, please check out the Job Traces section of the Aunsight User Guide.

Small Feature Enhancements

  • Job list search will be retained when navigating away from the Jobs tools and back. The search will refresh automatically when a job is running, and the search can easily be cleared by clicking the x next to the search badge at the top of the list.
  • Job type icons now display next to each row in the Job Process Status section making it easier to identify the type of job.

  • Created by name is now displayed for versions on Datasets, Query and Scripts.
